Nittany Lions pull off comeback win over Abington

ABINGTON, PA (January 29, 2014) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team overcame a late deficit to earn a 69-67 victory over Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions trailed 31-29 at halftime and did not jump back into the lead until Shanelle Koch hit a free throw at 2:46 that put Berks ahead 66-65.

Four of the Nittany Lions starters reached double-figures in scoring, led by Koch with 17 points. Koch was 6-of-10 from the field and 6-for-10 from the free throw line. She also pulled down a contest-high 12 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. In addition, Koch played all 40 minutes for the fifth straight game and sixth time this season.

Cassidy Schultz finished one point shy of her career-high with a 15 point performance. Kellie Wilson added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Keisha Robinson chipped in 10 points and three assists. Amber Hess-Moore tallied nine points off the bench.

Janay Winston led Abington with 19 points, followed by Jessica Schmidt and Stephanie Keyes with 13 points each. Teharah Worrell rounded out the Abington scorers in double-figures with 12 points.

Penn State Berks will host SUNYIT in a NEAC contest on Friday, January 31 at 8 p.m.
