Explosive second half leads Nittany Lions to win

READING, PA (January 26, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team poured in 54 points in the second half en route to a 97-87 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions set a number of single-game records during their dominating shooting performance. They set the program-record for points (97), field goal percentage (.586), and assists (26). The 34 field goals made were the fourth most and seven three pointers made ranked seventh all time.

The Screaming Eagles led for the entire first half and were up by as much as 11 points with 6:36 until the intermission. But Berks was able to narrow that margin to one point going into halftime. Khadijah Robinson scored the first five points of the second half and gave the Nittany Lions their first lead, which they would not surrender the rest of the way.

Robinson led the Nittany Lions with a career-high 26 points and notched a double-double after grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. The freshman forward also recorded four blocks, three steals, and three assists. Robinson shot 11-of-17 from the field and was 4-for-6 at the foul line.

Shanelle Koch tallied 18 of her career-high 24 points in the second half, after making seven of her eight attempts. For the game, Koch shot 10-of-13 from the floor and was 4-6 at the line. Kellie Wilson drained four 3-pointers and finished the game with season-high 20 points. She also registered eight boards and six assists.

Amber Hess-Moore came off the bench to deliver 12 points, while Cassidy Schultz added eight. Keisha Robinson recorded seven points, nine assists, eight rebounds, and three steals.

Ashley Pledger was 9-for-11 at the charity stripe and led all scorers with 28 points. Amerisse Rogers netted 18 of her 26 points in the second half. Kelly O'Dell added nine points and 13 rebounds for the Screaming Eagles.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Abington for an NEAC contest on Wednesday, January 29 at 8 p.m.
