Women's tennis drops non-conference bout to Alvernia

Box Score READING, PA (September 24, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to local foe Alvernia University in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Gring's Mills Tennis Court. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (1-2) were swept in doubles action with all of the matches ending in an 8-4 total. Crystal Hitz and Nandita Munindra, who was recently named NEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, fell in No. 1 doubles to Julie Seidel and Becca Perkins. Gloria Kim and Samantha Warga lost at second doubles to Alyssa Boyd and Lillian Hussar, while the No. 3 team of Angie Koval and ERIN GINTHER were defeated by Kristy Schwenk and Rachael Eberhart.

ERIN GINTHER picked up the lone win for Berks with her 8-6 victory at No. 6 singles. Warga played strong at No. 4 singles, but was edged 6-4, 6-4.

The Nittany Lions will host Albright College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, October 2 at 3:30 p.m.
