Women's tennis downs Rosemont, 7-2

Box Score ROSEMONT, PA (September 21, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team defeated Rosemont College, 7-2, in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (1-1) picked up a sweep in the doubles action to take a commanding 3-0 lead. The No. 1 duo of Crystal Hitz and Nandita Munindra won 8-5, while Gloria Kim and Samantha Warga won 8-4 at the second flight. Angie Koval and Erin Ginther finished off the sweep with a 9-7 win at third.

Warga became the all-time career record holder for doubles victory. She now has 32 over her four year career.

Hitz was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at the top singles spot, while Kim (No. 3) won 6-2, 6-3. Warga picked up a comeback win at fourth singles. After losing the first set 6-7 (7-2), the senior bounced back with a 6-4 second set win and 10-8 in the super tiebreak. Ginther finished off her perfect afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the sixth spot.

The Nittany Lions will host Alvernia University on Tuesday, September 24 at 4 p.m.
