Nittany Lions pick up road win over Abington

ABINGTON, PA (September 21, 2013) - Three different players scored goals to help the Penn State Berks women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon at the Germantown Park Stadium.

The Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0 NEAC) got out to a fast start when Cristen French scored the first of her two goals at the 2:48 mark of the first half. Simone Stewart provided the assist. Dana Sarcinello a goal for the third straight game when she found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 19th minute. Taylor Schwartz scored at the 69:31 mark for her fourth goal of the season.

Abington (5-2, 2-1 NEAC) got on the board with an unassisted goal by Kayla Nolan in the 75th minute. French tallied a goal in the 85th minute, with Stewart again adding the assist.

The Nittany Lion defense kept the Abington offensive attack relatively silent with Savannah Cramer only recording one save. Berks outshot Abington by a 24-10 margin, while Abington held a 6-5 advantage on corner kicks.

Berks will travel to Lancaster Bible College for a NEAC contest on Monday, September 23 at 4 p.m.
