Women's soccer shutouts Goucher

READING, PA (September 11, 2013) – The Penn State Berks women's soccer team picked up its second straight shutout after defeating Goucher College, 2-0, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (3-1) had several scoring opportunities over the first forty minutes, but could not produce a goal. In the 43rd minute, Simone Stewart's shot was deflected by the keeper and put into the near corner by Taylor Schwartz to give Berks a 1-0 lead.

Berks went back to the game plan early in the second half to pick up their next goal. Cristen French just missed a goal when she hit the post, but Lizzie Mummau kept crashing in and sent a shot into the back corner.

The defense kept the Gopher offensive attack under control throughout the contest. Goucher managed only three shots on net, which were all stopped by Savannah Cramer. This is the 12th shutout of Cramer's career and she lowered her season goals against average to 0.57.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Rowan University for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, September 17 at 7 p.m.
