Nittany Lions sweep Immaculata in home opener



READING, PA (September 10, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team downed Immaculata University, 3-0, in its 2013 home opener at Beaver Community Center on Tuesday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions took the opener by a score of 25-21 and won the game two thriller by a 25-20 count. Berks won the clincher, 25-16, to pull its overall record to 2-2.

Cassidy Schultz continued her solid play in the early going of the season. The sophomore outside hitter recorded 10 kills, 11 digs, and four service aces. Freshman Sophia Zhang led all players with a season-high 11 kills. Morgan Buterbaugh picked up 24 digs, while Jordan Heath handed out 24 assists and added nine digs.

The front row had a strong performance with Heleanna Davison racking up three solo blocks, while Zhang and Maria Pavone each tallied two.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Monday, September 16 when they host Wilkes University at 7 p.m.
