Baseball falls in non-conference play to Widener

READING, PA (April 3, 2013) - The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a 12-4 setback to Widener University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

The Nittany Lions scored one run in the first two innings to trail by 4-2, but the Pride (10-12) pulled away with two runs in the fourth and four in the fifth inning to build an eight-run lead.

Christian Marcin, who made an amazing diving catch in the top of the third, matched a career-high with three hits. He also scored one run and drove in a run. Clinton Faust, Clinton Faust, and Brad Dierolf each recorded an RBI. Keeanu Erb, Kyle Rissmiller, and Nick Zipay each had one hit and one run scored.

The Nittany Lions will begin NEAC play with a home doubleheader against Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
