Women's basketball cruises to win over Wilson



READING, PA (February 10, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team had four players score in double-figures en route to defeating Wilson College, 76-49, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Southern Division contest on Sunday afternoon at Beaver Community Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions improved to 9-12 overall and 8-7 in the NEAC, while the Phoenix fell to 2-16 on the season and 0-14 in the conference. Berks is currently one-game ahead of the College of Saint Elizabeth for the third and final playoff spot in the South Division.

Berks never trailed in the game and were able to build a comfortable 14-4 lead early in the contest. The Phoenix trimmed that lead down to four points at the 10:59 mark of the opening half, but a 20-4 run by the Nittany Lions put the game in their control.

Shanelle Koch led the Nittany Lions with 20 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the floor. Nichole Young-Trapp notched her sixth double-double of the season after recording 19 points and 15 rebounds, which matched a career-high. Kellie Wilson (16 points) and Keisha Robinson (10 points) each knocked down a pair of 3-pointers. Robinson also picked up seven boards, five assists, and five steals.

Vanessa Whitfield had a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashlee Yealy pulled down 14 boards.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Harrisburg for an NEAC Southern Division contest on Wednesday, February 13 at 6 p.m.
