Women’s basketball falls in final minute to Morrisville State



READING, PA (December 6, 2013) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered a 61-58 setback to Morrisville State College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday evening at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions scored the first seven points of the game and led by as much as 13 midway through the first half. Morrisville State chipped away at the deficit and trailed just 29-27 at halftime. Berks led 49-43 with 10:54 remaining, but the Mustangs used an 8-0 run to gain their first lead of the game. The Mustangs went ahead for good with just over four minutes to play.

Shanelle Koch led the Nittany Lions with her first double-double of the season after recording game-highs 20 points and 13 rebounds. The sophomore guard was a very efficient 10-of-11 shooting from the floor. Koch also had five steals.

Cassidy Schultz netted a career-high 10 points, followed by Amber Hess-Moore with nine points on 3-of-7 shooting from long range. Keisha Robinson recorded a contest-high six steals.

Jordan Anderson led the Mustangs with 14 points and four steals, followed by Queen Holquin with 10 points. Jennell Paul grabbed 10 boards and handed out five assists.

The Nittany Lions finished the fall portion of their schedule and will not return to action until Monday, January 6 when they travel to Rosemont College for a non-conference contest.
