Women's basketball downed by Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 25, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered a 64-53 setback on the road to Gallaudet University in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Monday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions trailed 30-19 at halftime and trailed by the same deficit as late as 8:18 left in the second half. But Berks was able to narrow the Bison lead to five points after a jumper by Nichole Young-Trapp with 3:15 to go in the game, but that is as close as they would get.

Young-Trapp registered her second straight double-double after recording 14 points and 14 rebounds, which were both team-highs. The sophomore forward picked up eight of her boards on the offensive end of the court.

Keisha Robinson had 10 points, nine rebounds, and a contest-high five steals. Khadijah Robinson and Cassidy Schultz, who made her first start of the season, each chipped in seven points.

Lindsay Stergio and Isabella Hasty led the Bison with 18 points a piece. Stergio had a contest-high 15 boards, followed by Elena Ciccarelli with 13.

The Nittany Lions will return to action with a non-conference contest against Mount Aloysius College on Saturday, November 30 at 4 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
