Women's basketball falls on the road to Alvernia



READING, PA (November 23, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball fell, 95-70, to crosstown-rival Alvernia University in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Jack McCloskey Court. (Boxscore)

The Crusaders (4-0) took 43-28 lead into halftime pushed their lead to 21 early in the second half. The Nittany Lions cut that deficit down to 14 points on a jumper by Amber Hess-Moore with 15:39 to play, but that is close as Berks would get.

Hess-Moore led the Nittany Lions with her season-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor. Shanelle Koch followed with 13 points, while Khadijah Robinson chipped in 12. Nichole Young-Trapp recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Keisha Robinson finished the game with eight points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Chelsea Ebersole shot 6-for-12 from 3-point range to lead the Crusaders with 22 points. Tyra Roberts chipped 16 points and six boards, while Jenna Wolfe recorded 13 points.

The Nittany Lions will open up conference play on Monday, November 25 at Gallaudet University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
