Women's soccer picks up fourth straight shutout

READING, PA (October 5, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team defeated Cazenovia College, 7-0, to earn its fourth consecutive shutout in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (9-2-1, 7-0 NEAC) are unbeaten over the last seven contests and have outscored their opposition by a 28-0 margin during the four match scoreless streak. They lead the conference standing by three points over Lancaster Bible College, who they beat 2-1 two weeks ago.

Simone Stewart had her hand in each of the first four goals scored for the Nittany Lions. Stewart scored the first goal of the game at the 6:13 mark after putting a rebound into the back of the net. She followed that up with an assist on a goal by Dana Sarcinello in the 13th minute. The freshman forward scored her second goal in the 23rd minute, with Taylor Schwartz providing the assist. Stewart then added the assist with a cross through traffic that Kristin Starke drove into the near corner.

Cristen French scored an unassisted goal to give the Nittany Lions a 5-0 lead going into halftime. Jen Kessler and Ellie McKinstry added unassisted goals in the second half to round out the Berks scoring binge.

Savannah Cramer earned three saves in net and combined for another shutout with Sarah Elmontacir.

The Nittany Lions will host Morrisville State College in a NEAC contest on Sunday, October 6 at 2 p.m.
