Nittany Lions pick up road win over Scranton

SCRANTON, PA (October 22, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball rallied back from an early deficit to earn a 3-1 win over the University of Scranton in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at the Long Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (13-11) dropped the first game 16-25, before reeling off wins of 25-15, 25-16, 25-22.

Sophia Zhang recorded a contest-high 19 kills and had a .320 hitting percentage to pace the Nittany Lion offense. Cassidy Schultz followed with 14 kills and Maria Pavone had added 10. Pavone was solid on defense, recording a career-high three solo blocks.

Morgan Buterbaugh picked up 35 of the Nittany Lions 84 digs. Sarah Winton had 15 and Jordan Heath chipped in with 11. Heath recorded a career-best 47 assists to raise her season total to 767.

The Nittany Lions will host Alvernia University in a non-conference contest of Thursday, October 24 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center. The contest will be the fourth annual Dig Pink event.
