Nittany Lions down Marywood in non-conference battle



SCRANTON, PA (October 10, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team overcame an early setback to pick up a 3-1 victory over Marywood University in a non-conference contest on Thursday evening at Insalaco Arena. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (10-7) dropped the opening game 15-25, but bounced back with game scores of 25-16, 27-25, 25-12 to earn the victory.

Sophia Zhang led the way with 15 kills, followed by Cassidy Schultz with 13, while Colby Jones recorded a season-high eight kills. Morgan Buterbaugh had 36 digs, followed by Sarah Winton with 19 and Jones with 17. Jordan Heath dished out 40 assists and notched 13 digs.

The Nittany Lions will travel to DeSales University for a tri-match on Saturday, October 12.
