Women's basketball falls in conference tilt with Wells



READING, PA (January 4, 2012) - Nichole Young-Trapp poured in a career-high 22 points, but it was not enough as the Penn State Berks women's basketball team fell to Wells College, 83-68, in Friday evenings North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest at Beaver Community Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (2-7, 1-2 NEAC) trailed 36-34 at halftime and led by as much as four points throughout part of the second half. The Express (3-6, 2-0 NEAC) took the lead for good with 13:00 minutes remaining.

Young-Trapp recorded her second double-double of the season after grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. The freshman forward was 11-for-14 shooting from the floor for a .786 shooting percentage, which is the tied for second at Berks for a player with eight attempts or more in a game.

Shanelle Koch played strong in her Nittany Lion debut. She was second on the team with 12 points and also notched four boards. Keisha Robinson and Kellie Wilson each chipped in 11 points and both recorded six rebounds. Robinson registered a contest-high six steals.

All five starters for the Express reached double-figures, led by freshman guard Holli Erkson's contest-best 24 points. Jessilyn Artaho-Akie added 14 points and eight assists, while Ashley Roser had 13 points and 15 boards. Lindsay Achzet (15) and Brittany White (11) rounded out the Wells plays in double digits.

The Nittany Lions return to action on Sunday, January 6 with a home contest against conference foe Keuka College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
