Women's basketball falls to division leader Lancaster Bible, 67-52



LANCASTER, PA (January 26, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team lost on the road, 67-52, to Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest on Saturday afternoon at Horst Athletic Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions fell to 6-11 overall and 5-6 in the NEAC, while the Chargers improved to 14-3 overall and padded their division leading record to 10-2. The top three teams in the standings will earn a trip to the conference tournament. Penn State Harrisburg (7-2) and Penn State Abington (6-4) are second and third, respectively, in the NEAC standings just ahead of Berks.

Berks led by 10 points late in the first half, but that lead was cut down to 33-28 going into the intermission. The Chargers chipped away at the deficit and took the lead for good with 16:01 left in the contest.

Nichole Young-Trapp recorded her fourth double-double of the season after picking up a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Fatima Rone came to life in the second half, where she netted 10 of her 14 points. The senior forward finished the game with 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Shanelle Koch rounded out the Nittany Lions in double figures with 11 points.

Lauren Heliger led all scorers with 22 points, 15 of which she recorded in the second half. Aubrey Folger added 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sarah Heilenman pulled down 12 boards.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Wilson College on Sunday, January 27 at 1 p.m.
