Nittany Lions cruise to win over Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (January 20, 2013) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team took advantage of a number of mistakes in its 74-57 victory over Morrisville State College on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (5-10, 4-5 NEAC) scored 30 points off of turnovers after forcing Morrisville State into 29 total miscues, while only committing 11. The Mustangs (1-15, 1-7 NEAC) led by four points going into halftime, but Berks opened up the second half on a 19-0 run to take control of the game. Morrisville State was held scoreless over the first six minutes, 22 seconds of the second half.

Nichole Young-Trapp led all scorers with 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by Shanelle Koch with 18 points, nine rebounds, and a career-high six assists. Kellie Wilson chipped in 14 points and Keisha Robinson added 13. Robinson also recorded a contest-high seven steals and five assists.

The Mustangs received 14 points from LaCandice Sanders and Jasmine Oakes, both of which came off the bench. Jennel Paul and Akiella Parks each added 10 points, while Paul also had eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Nittany Lions will host the College of Saint Elizabeth in a NEAC South contest on Wednesday, January 23 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
