The Nittany Lions improved to 7-8 overall and 6-1 in the NEAC, which has them sitting in first place in the south division after Penn State Harrisburg lost to SUNY Cobleskill this afternoon. Berks will face off with the NEAC North Division leading Morrisville State College tomorrow in a rematch of the NEAC semifinal game from last year.

Berks led 35-31 at halftime, but the Wildcats chipped away and were able to take a 44-43 lead with 15:09 remaining in the game. Both teams went scoreless over the next two plus minutes before a jumper by Tom Smith put the Nittany Lions back on top. Cazenovia managed to tie the game again with 11:39 left, but Jim Wagner drilled a 3-pointer to start a 10-0 Berks run.

Dameon Nixon led all scorers with 21 points, which is one off of his career-high. He scored 12 points in the second half, including six points in the final 1:10 of the game. Nixon shot 8-of-13 from the floor and converted 5-of-8 at the free throw line.

Jeff Schmidt matched his season-high in scoring with 17 points. The senior forward also had eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Smith scored 15 points, 12 of which came in the second half, and tied Schmidt with a team-high eight boards. Dontez Reid netted 10 points and recorded three assists.

Matt Perry led the Wildcats with 19 points, followed by Meech Drayton (15 points) and Jim Atkinson (13 points). Robert Rohrig had a contest-high 12 rebounds, as Cazenovia won the battle of the boards by a 46-32 margin.
