Women's basketball holds off Abington rally



READING, PA (January 16, 2013) - Cassidy Schultz knocked down a 3-pointer with a little over one minute remaining to help secure the Penn State Berks women's basketball team to a 79-73 victory over Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division contest on Wednesday evening. The Nittany Lions (4-9, 3-4 NEAC) were up 32-29 at halftime and led throughout the majority of the second half, before a pair of free throws put Abington ahead 70-69 with 1:17 left. Following a timeout, Schultz drilled the late 3-pointer and Sherrie Satchel recorded a blocked shot on the defensive end of the floor to pull away from Abington.

Satchel had her fourth double-double of the season behind her career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Kellie Wilson netted 18 points and team-high six assists, while Nichole Young-Trapp chipped in 14 points. Keisha Robinson finished with eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Trish Watson drained seven 3-pointers and finished with a contest-high 32 points. She also converted on 11-of-15 trips to the foul line. Watson also recorded seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

The Nittany Lions hit the road with NEAC crossover contests at Cazenovia College (Saturday) and Morrisville State College (Sunday)
