Women's volleyball outlast Cazenovia, finish weekend 2-1



COBLESKILL, N.Y. (September 23, 2012) - Kayla Mosser played a monster game to pace the Penn State Berks women's volleyball team in a 3-2 victory over Cazenovia College on the second day of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Crossover at SUNY Cobleskill. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (6-6 overall, 3-1 NEAC) opened up the match with a 25-18 win in the first game before falling 25-14 in the second. They closed out the victory by taking the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-20.

Mosser accounting for nearly half of the Nittany Lions 46 team kills, matching a personal-high 22. She set her career mark earlier in the week in a win at home over Lancaster Bible College. The sophomore middle blocker committed only four errors on her 35 attempts to finish with a very efficient .514 hitting percentage. Mosser also picked up two solo blocks and assisted on two others.

Freshman Heleanna Davison reached a season best with her eight kills. Rachel Sweeney recording three of the teams six service aces and also added three kills and a solo block. Sophomore setter Jennifer Nawa set career-high in assists (36), digs (11), and kills (5). Courtney Lucarelli had a team-leading 22 digs, while Cassidy Schultz added nine.

The Nittany Lions will host Moravian College in a non-conference match on Thursday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
