Softball swept on the road by Stevenson



OWINGS MILLS, MD (March 19, 2012) - The Penn State Berks softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests, both by a score of 8-0, on the road to Stevenson University on Monday afternoon.

In the opener, Kaylie Vrabel had the Nittany Lions lone hit with an infield single in the top of the fourth inning. Marissa Ruggiero had the only hit for Berks in the second game with a single to right field.

Devon Denker combined to pitched 4.0 innings in the two games. In the second game, she allowed just one hit and one unearned run. Raychel Dearmitt struck out three batters in 2.0 innings of game one, while Britany Nelson had one strikeout and allowed just four hits in the second game.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Wednesday, March 21 with a doubleheader at Immaculata University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
