Stone's double-double not enough in loss to Chargers



LANCASTER, PA (February 18, 2012) - SHAKIYLA STONE notched the second double-double of her career, but Lancaster Bible College downed Penn State Berks, 73-49, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions fell to 8-15 overall and 7-10 in the NEAC, while the Chargers improve to 14-11 on the season and 11-7 in the conference.

Stone recorded 10 points and 10 steals, while playing in the second the last game of her collegiate career. The senior guard last achieved a double-double against Wells College on February 13, 2011. In that contest, Stone also had 10 steals, which is a single-game school record.  She matched a career-high for rebounds with six.

Sherrie Satchel maintained her strong presence in the paint with a personal-best and contest-high 14 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive end of the court. Satchel chipped in eight points and registered two block shots. In just 13 games this season, Satchel has compiled 18 blocks and her 1.4 blocks per game is tied with Kaelin Reed for the team lead.

Kellie Wilson added seven points and four boards, while Chanell Jones had six points and five rebounds. Berks outrebounded the Chargers by a 44-36 margin.

Lancaster Bible was paced by Lauren Heliger's 24 points, six rebounds and four steals. Sarah Heilenman followed with 14 points and grabbed eight boards, while Emily Martz added 11 points. Brittney Becker handed out a game-high seven assists.

The Nittany Lions will play their season-finale tomorrow afternoon against Gallaudet University at 3 p.m. Prior to tip-off, the Nittany Lions will honor SHAKIYLA STONE with Senior Day festivities.
