Stone finishes her career at Berks with win over Gallaudet

READING, PA (February 19, 2012) - Shakiyla Stone finished tied for the team-lead with 15 points in her final game with the Nittany Lions to help lead the Penn State Berks women's basketball team to a 70-46 win over Gallaudet University on Sunday afternoon.

Stone, who played four seasons for the Nittany Lions, was joined at midcourt by head coach Tim Coleman and her mother as her career accomplishments were read by the PA announcer. Stone received flowers, a hug and a large applaud by everyone in attendance. She had a fan base of close to 20 of her friend and family sitting in the stands.

After getting in foul trouble early, Stone had to watch most of the first half from the bench. She redeemed herself with all 15 of her points coming in the second half. Stone finished the contest shooting 6-of-9 from the floor and hitting two 3-pointers.

Fatima Rone and Keisha Robinson matched Stone's 15 point effort to tie for the team lead. Rone enjoyed her finest offense output with a 7-of-10 showing and she made her first 3-pointer of the season. The junior foward was in "Tima Time" mode in the second half, where she notched 13 of her career-best 15 points. Robinson was 5-of-9 from the field and made all four of her foul shots. She had a team-best four assists and also recorded four rebounds.

Kaelin Reed recorded one blocked shot to give her 33 on the year, which ties JAMIE NORRIS as the most for a season at Berks. Chanell Jones also swatted a shot and handed out two assists. SHERRIE SATCHEL chipped in six points and four rebounds.

The Bison were led by Arlene Ngalle's 14 points and nine rebounds, while Stephanie Weiss added 10 points and 10 rebounds. She only had one field goal, but was a very efficient 8-of-9 at the line.

The Nittany Lions finished the 2011-12 season with a record of 9-14 overall and 8-10 in the NEAC South Division, while Bison were 8-16 overall and 6-12 in the conference.
