Women's basketball comes up short against Harrisburg

READING, PA (February 15, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team fought hard all night, but first place Penn State Harrisburg proved to be too much with a 79-59 victory on Wednesday evening at Beaver Community Center.

Berks used a 17-4 run midway through the first half to erase an early deficit and grab a two point lead with 9:34 until the break. The teams traded leads throughout the rest of the half, with Harrisburg taking a 40-38 advantage at the intermission. Harrisburg set the pace in the second half to take control of the contest.

With the loss, the Nittany Lions (8-14, 7-9 NEAC) playoff hopes are dashed, while Harrisburg is still playing for the top-seed of the postseason.

SHERRIE SATCHEL maintained her strong play with the first double-double of her career. The freshman forward had a season-high 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Satchel also collected two blocks, raising her season total to 16.

SHAKIYLA STONE finished with a team-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor. KEISHA ROBINSON rounded out the Berks players in double figures with 10 points. ASHLEY KENNY chipped in seven points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists.

Harrisburg (17-6, 15-1 NEAC) was led by Daril Foose's 19 points and 11 boards. Amanda Moyer was also a force with 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Dorothea Dixon added 13 points and Stephanie Yetter had 12.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. NEAC contest. They will finish off their season at home with Senior Day festivities on Sunday against Gallaudet University.
