Nittany Lions stay hot with win over Wilson College

READING, PA (February 12, 2012) - Keisha Robinson led all scorers with 19 points to help the Penn State Berks women's basketball team to a 62-43 win over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (8-13, 7-8 NEAC South) won their second straight and four out of their last five games. The Nittany Lions currently trail Lancaster Bible College by two games with three to play for the final playoff spot in the south division.

It was a back-and-forth game in the first five minutes, but a layup by Robinson at the 14:21 mark started gave Berks the lead and started an 18-2 run. They used that momentum to take a 32-19 lead into the halftime intermission.

Robinson was a perfect 5-for-5 shooting in the first half and finished the game 9-for-14. As a team, the Nittany Lions shot 41.0% from the floor and were 10-of-16 from the foul line.

Shakiyla Stone followed with 13 points and also recorded a contest-high five steals and three assists. The senior guard made one three pointer to give her 99 for her career, which is a program-record. Kaelin Reed rounded out the Berks players in double figures with 10 points.

The freshman center also recorded seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Reed has recorded at least one blocked shot in 10 straight games and her 32 this year is one shy of the single-season record set by Jamie Norris last year.

Freshman Sherrie Satchel cracked the starting lineup for the first time this season. She made the most out of the opportunity, finishing with eight points and led the team with a personal-best 12 boards.

The Phoenix (2-18, 2-13 NEAC South) received 18 points and nine rebounds from freshman Ashlee Yealy. Tara Fields added 12 points and five steals, while Vanessa Whitfield had a contest-high 14 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, February 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. They will finish off the regular-season on the road at Lancaster Bible (Saturday) and then home against Gallaudet University (Sunday)
