Men's basketball drops consolation game to Brandywine



CAMDEN, N.J. (November 17, 2012) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team lost to Penn State Brandywine, 83-70, in the consolation round of the Rutgers-Camden Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (0-2) trailed 44-39 at halftime, but opened up the second half with the first six points to take a slim one-point lead. After several lead changes, Brandywine went ahead for good with 8:57 remaining in the contest.

For the second straight contest, Connor Hough scored in double figures. The senior forward scored 18 points on a very efficient 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Through two games this season, Hough is averaging a team-best 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Freshman guard Dameon Nixon recorded 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals for the Nittany Lions. Senior Dontez Reid chipped in 12 points, three boards, and three assists. Mike Porter rounded out the Berks players in double figures with his 10 point effort. Porter was a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line. Sophomore guard Jim Wagner has nine points this season, all of which have come from 3 pointers.

Brandywine (1-1) was powered by Dan Robinson and Rasheed Wilkins, who each finished with a contest-high 25 points. Robinson pulled in a game-high nine rebounds. Brandywine controlled the battle of the boards by a 45-25 margin to help lead to its first win of the season.

Penn State Berks will host its home opener against Gwynedd-Mercy College on Tuesday, November 20 at 8 p.m. in Beaver Communtiy Center.
