Women's volleyball get back on track with win over Marywood

READING, PA (October 9, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team downed visiting Marywood College, 3-1, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at Beaver Community Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (13-6) had their season-high six match win streak halted over the weekend against conference rival Gallaudet University on Saturday. Berks hopes to have corrected the flaws from that contest with the strong showing on Tuesday against the Pacers (11-9).

Kayla Mosser finished the match with a .400 hitting percentage after 18 of her 35 attacks fell to the gym floor for a kill. Mosser has registered double-digits in kills nine times this season, four of which were 18 or more. She also tallied two block assists to raise her season total to 25.

Maria Pavone followed Mosser with seven kills, while Cassidy Schultz and Caitlin Scroger each chipped in six. Schultz also added 10 digs for the Nittany Lions.

Abby Musselman led the Nittany Lions with a career-high 23 digs. She also racked up 42 assists, marking the ninth time this season that she had a double-double in assists and digs.

The Nittany Lions compiled nine service aces with Victoria Young recording a team-high four. Rachel Sweeney added three aces and moved into first all-time at Penn State Berks. She now has 123 aces, surpassing Glenda Ngo (121) for the top of the rankings.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Albright College for a non-conference contest on Thursday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
