Nittany Lions cruise past Cazenovia for 10th straight victory

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (October 7, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team recorded its third consecutive shutout with a 5-0 win over Cazenovia College in Sunday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (10-2, 9-0 NEAC) reached double-digit wins for the third time in program-history with the victory and extended their school-record win streak to 10.

Sara Conover, who entered the week ranked tied for 13th in the nation for goals, tacked on two more scores to raise her season total to 14. Meaghan Daly also registered two goals for the Nittany Lions, giving her seven this season. Steph Tankalavage netted the other goal for Berks. Conover and Daly both added one assist to finish the contest with five points. Emily Rumpf and Ellie McKinstry also provided assists.

Savannah Cramer and Sarah Elmontacir combined for the Nittany Lions seventh shutout of the season. Berks has not surrendered a goal in the last 239 minutes, 48 seconds, which dates back to the Nittany Lions 2-1 win over Alvernia University on September 25. Elmontacir recorded one save on the only Wildcat shot that got past the strong defensive unit of Ashley Pardoski, Rumpf, Karly Shaffert, and Katie Warner.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Thursday, October 11 at Cedar Crest College. The contest is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
