Women's volleyball hosts Scranton in Dig Pink match



READING, PA (October 23, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of Scranton in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at Beaver Community Center. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (18-9) sponsored their 3rd annual "Dig Pink" match to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Berks collected $275. 25 to donate to the Side-Out foundation, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families. Your participation gives youths the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of all breast cancer patients.

The Royals (20-12) lost the first set to Berks 25-19, before rattling off three straight games by a score of 27-25, 25-18, and 25-20.

Kayla Mosser and Maria Pavone tied for the team lead in kills with nine, followed by Cassidy Schultz with seven and Caitlin Scroger with six. Victoria Young picked up 19 of the Nittany Lions' 92 digs, while Abby Musselman (18), Courtney Lucarelli (17), Schultz (15), and Katie Sostak (13) each reached double-figures. Musselman also handed out 35 assists and recorded an ace.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the regular-season on Monday, October 29 against Delaware Valley College at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
