Women's volleyball earns NEAC win over SUNYIT



LANCASTER, PA (October 19, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over SUNYIT in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday afternoon at Lancaster Bible College. The Nittany Lions won by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-10. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (16-8, 7-2 NEAC) won in three sets for the third consecutive match and 10th time this season. Berks now holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Wildcats (12-17, 7-2 NEAC) for third place and trail second place Keuka College by a half of a game.

Berks finished the contest with 40 kills on 90 attempts and had a .322 hitting percentage. In the clinching third game, the Nittany Lions compiled a .667 hitting percentage after smacking 14 kills without committing a single error in their 21 attempts.

Kayla Mosser set a single-game school record with a .786 hitting percentage on 11 kills, no errors, and 14 attacks. Cassidy Schultz added nine kills, followed by Maria Pavone with seven and Caitlin Scroger with six. Rachel Sweeney chipped in five kills, two service aces and one solo block.

Abby Musselman handed out 36 assists and recorded eight digs. Schultz finished with a team-high 12 digs and Victoria Young had 11.

The Nittany Lions will finish off their conference schedule on Saturday, October 20 with games against Morrisville State College (9 a.m.) and Wells College (3 p.m.)
