Late surge lifts Baptist Bible over Nittany Lions, 3-1

READING, PA (October 16, 2012) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback at home against Baptist Bible College in Tuesday afternoon's non-conference contest. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions were able to even the match at one-apiece early in the second half behind some fancy ball movement. Zachary Hoherchak dribbled down the left side and sent a pass to Kiernan Boone at the baseline, who then found an open Tim Petrowsky for a goal into the left corner.

In the 68th minute, Ben Howell and Caleb Evans connected for their second scoring combination of the day to go up 2-1. Howell took an Evans pass and sent it into the left back corner to give the Defenders its first lead at 1-0. Evans finished off the contest with a header off of a direct kick from Bobby Newman.

Sophomore keeper John Murphy recorded four saves to put him at 101 for the season.

The Nittany Lions will sponsor a Pink Game fundraiser for breast cancer awareness on Saturday, October 20 at 3 p.m. against Gallaudet University. The contest will also be a senior day celebration for Andrew Fair, Larnelle La Rose, and Erik Mertz.
