Women's basketball drop conference tilt to Keuka



KEUKA PARK, NY (January 8, 2012) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team fell to Keuka College, 77-49, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

Kaelin Reed led the Nittany Lions (2-8 overall, 1-3 NEAC) with nine points and six rebounds. The freshman center also recorded two blocked shots, giving her team-high 12 for the season. Shakiyla Stone and Chanell Jones followed with eight points each. Ashley Kenny led Berks with four assists and tied for the team lead in steals (four) alongside Jones.

The Storm (6-1 overall, 3-1 NEAC) shot 44.9 % from the floor and 47.8 % from beyond the arc to take control of the contest. Keuka dominated the battle of the boards by a 58-31 margin. They were led on offense by Danielle Gravel (15 points), followed by Jessica Bandrowski (14 points) and Casey Chamberlain (11 points). Taylor Szwec had a contest-high eight rebounds, followed by three teammates with seven apiece.

The Nittany Lions will host the College of St. Elizabeth in an NEAC contest on Wednesday, January 11 at 7 p.m.
