Women's basketball drop NEAC contest to Cobleskill



READING, PA (January 15, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team fell 63-41 to SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Fighting Tigers (8-5, 5-1 NEAC North) played strong on both ends of the court, shooting 48.3% (29-of-60) and limiting Berks to 24.6% (14-of-57). The Nittany Lions (2-10, 1-5 NEAC South) converted 10-of-20 baskets at the foul line, while Cobleskill only went 3-for-6.

Kaley Kinek finished with a team-high 11 points, nine of which came in the opening half. Ashley Kenny followed with six points, while Kaelin Reed and Shakiyla Stone each chipped in five. Kenny, Stone and Keisha Robinson tied for the team lead with five rebounds.

Chelcy Moore did it all for the Fighting Tigers, finishing with 13 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and two steals. Kady Porterfield led all scorers with 15 points and also added five boards. Victoria Carter (12 points) and Heidi Anderson (11 points) rounded out the players in double-figures.

Berks converted for 10 points at the foul line on 20 trips, while Cobleskill made just three on six attempts. The Nittany Lions also forced 20 turnovers, while committing just 15.

The Nittany Lions will travel to NEAC foe Penn State Abington on Wednesday, January 18. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
