CLARKS SUMMIT, PA (September 20, 2011) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team fell 6-3 on the road to Baptist Bible in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions (1-1) mixed around their lineup after a thrilling 5-4 win over Albright College on Sunday afternoon.
Ruth Fortuna shined in her freshman debut with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. TATIANA FLOWERS was the only other Berks winner in singles play. The sophomore won her match in the sixth slot by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
The duo of AMANDA FULLER and SAMANTHA WARGA earned the first win of the day for the Nittany Lions at third doubles. Fuller and Warga won by a score of 8-5 to deny the Defenders (3-5) from a sweep in doubles.
Taylor Keselica played strong in her first action of the season before falling in the third set. She lost 1-6 in the first set and evened things up with a 6-1 win in the second. Keselica dropped the decisive set by a 6-3 count.
The Nittany Lions return to action with their home opener on Monday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. against Immaculata University.
