Men's soccer fall in non-conference tilt with Alvernia

READING, PA (September 1, 2011) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team lost a 7-0 road contest to Alvernia University in the 2011 opener on Thursday afternoon.

Alvernia took a 2-0 advantage into the intermission and did not look back the rest of the way.

The Nittany Lions had three shots on goal by ZACHARY ALESI. CORY GARRITANO had two shots saved by the keeper, while LOGAN LANGSETH added one shot on a goal.

Berks keeper JONATHAN JABLONKA had eight saves in goal, all coming in the first half.

Guiliano Caloiero and David McEwen each recorded two goals for Alvernia. Keeper Ben Diller made five saves.

The Nittany Lions will compete in the Goucher Tournament this weekend. They face host Goucher on Saturday at noon and will square off with Wesley on Sunday at noon.
