READING, PA (March 21, 2011) - The Penn State Berks baseball team dropped a 17-8 decision to Misericordia University in a non-conference contest on Monday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.
The Cougars (9-3) opened up the scoring binge with two in the second inning, five in the third and seven more in the fifth inning. The Nittany Lions (5-10) tacked on six runs over the final three innings, but the deficit was too much to overcome by that point.
Tylor Vosburgh and J.C. Lacroix made the most out of the opportunities at the plate. Vosburgh went 2-for-2 with four runs batted in, while Lacroix was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Connor Corson also had a strong day at the dish, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
David Loose pitched a scoreless ninth inning and Corey Jackson allowed just one unearned run in his inning of work.
The hard hitting Cougars saw five of their hits go for extra bases, including a three-run home run by Kenny Durling. Durling finished the game with four hits, four RBIs and three runs scored.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible on Thursday, March 24 for a doubleheader. The first game is set to begin at noon.
