WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 25, 2011) – The fifth seeded Penn State Berks women's basketball team saw its quest to repeat as North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champions come to an end with a 65-40 loss  to fourth seed SUNYIT on Friday afternoon at Gallaudet University.

The Nittany Lions (13-13) found themselves in a 15-3 hole just eight minutes into the contest. They could never work back from the deficit, as the Wildcats took a controlling 38-19 lead into the break at half.

Taylor Kreider led Berks in scoring with 10 points, followed by STEPH BINDER and SHAKIYLA STONE with nine points each. Kreider, who received an award for her All-Conference selection prior to the game, finished with a team-high eight rebounds.

The Wildcats (19-7) were paced by Taylor Topping (17 points) and Lyndsey Brognano (15 points). Topping brought down a game-high nine boards and the Wildcats dominated the glass by a 55-39 margin.

The Lions struggled shooting in all aspects of the game. They shot 20% (13-for-65) from the floor, 3-of-14 on 3-pointers and converted just 40.7 (11-for-27) at the foul line. All three 3-pointers came in the first half with two by Stone and one by EMILY PUFNOCK.

SUNYIT was just 4-of-12 from long range, but made up for it with a 49.1% clip from the field on 26-of-53 shooting. The Wildcats made only 14 trips to the charity stripe, converting nine for points.

Binder and DORIAN BISHOP finished off their impressive four-year careers in one of the winningest eras in school history. The pair ranks in the top five in nearly all major statistical categories in school history. The Lions finished the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 13-13 to finish with double-digits in wins for the fourth consecutive season.
