Jones records first double-double in loss to Gallaudet



WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 11, 2011) – Chanell Jones had a career-day for the Penn State Berks women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as Gallaudet University won 85-55 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

Jones recorded the first double-double of her career with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She matched her career-high in points, which was set in a win over Wilson College on January 17, 2010. Jones established personal-best with in rebounds (10), assists (6), steals (3), and minutes played (34).

Shakiyla Stone chipped in 13 points and Kaley Kinek added a season-high 12 points to round out the Berks scorers in double figures. Jaslyn Silva tallied seven points and two assists, while Kaelin Reed notched a contest-high three blocked shots.

The Bison were led by Britny Latham's 22 points and five assists. She knocked down four 3-pointers and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Claire Tucker added 17 points and Stephanie Weiss finished with 12.

The Nittany Lions will not return to action until after the new year, when they travel to Wells College on Saturday, January 7.
