Mens soccer fall in final minutes to Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 21, 2011) – Collin McCormick evened the score with 4:15 remaining in the match, but Gallaudet University pulled out a 2-1 win over the Penn State Berks men's soccer team with a late goal in Friday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.

McCormick scored his second goal of the season off of a free kick with the help of a deflection off of a Bison defender. Gallaudet wasted no time taking back the lead with a fast break goal by J.P. Kanashiro in the 88th minute.

The scoring started 12 minutes, 56 seconds into the contest with an unassisted goal by Karlis Instons, but the two teams plays scoreless soccer over the next 62 minutes. Berks keeper Jonathan Jablonka made nine saves to raise his conference-best total to 134.

Zachary Alesi and McCormick each registered two shots on goal, but were unable to find much success. Bison keeper Eric Setzer stopped six of the seven shots on goal.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Immaculata University on Tuesday, October 25 for a 7 p.m. contest.
