Women's tennis drop fall finale

ASTON, PA (October 15, 2011) – The Penn State Berks women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 nail biter to Neumann College in the final match of the falls season on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions found themselves in a 2-1 hole heading into the singles play. Arion Harris and Kristina Hatter picked up an 8-1 win at third doubles to keep the Knights (6-6) from picking up the sweep. Elizabeth Kehm and Amanda Fuller fell 9-7 in the tightest match of the day at No. 2 doubles.

In the singles action, Harris pulled out a win in three sets over Gabrielle Porcelli. Harris grabbed the first set 6-1 and then lost 3-6 in the second. Harris bounced back with a convincing 6-1 victory in the decisive set.

Kehm won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) at fifth singles and Samantha Warga was a 6-1, 6-2 winner in the sixth single spot.

The Nittany Lions finished the first half of their season with a 3-2 record. They will open up the spring season with a road match to the nation's capital against Trinity College on March 16.
