Men's soccer comes up short against Baptist Bible

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA (October 12, 2011) – Stephen Todd evened up the match early in the second half with his second goal of the season, but Baptist Bible pulled away with two late goals to win 3-1 in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference contest.

With the Nittany Lions trailing 1-0 coming out of intermission, Todd pulled Berks even with an unassisted goal in the 60th minute. As the keeper came out of the net to stop the attack, Todd found the back of the net with a chip over his head.

The Defenders (7-5-1) countered with a goal by Caleb Evans in the 65th minute and Peter Paye put the match away with a tally at the 74:23 mark. Baptist Bible kept pressure on the offensive end all match long, outshooting Berks by a 24-15 margin.

Sophomore keeper Jonathan Jablonka made six saves in net for the Nittany Lions. Jablonka now has 115 saves for the season, which ranks second in Division III.

Alan Elliot put the Defenders ahead in the first half with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute. Goalkeeper Dillon Brown finished the contest with two saves.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Abington on Saturday, October 15 for a 1 p.m. NEAC contest.
