Unbeaten DeSales shuts out Berks

CENTER VALLEY, PA (September 7, 2010) – The Penn State Berks women's soccer team was held scoreless on the road against unbeaten DeSales University on Tuesday afternoon. The loss drops Berks to 0-2, while DeSales moves to 4-0.

Cassidy Dawson was challenged early against the Bulldogs, facing 10 shots in the first half alone. Dawson stopped six of those shots on goal, but the relentless Bulldog offense found the back of the net for four scores. She had two saves in the second half to finish the match with eight.

Brady Walsh put DeSales on the board at the 7:01 mark of the first half and capped the scoring early in the second half with her second goal. Amanda Fink tallied two goals, both assisted by Ariel Merkt, and had an assist on Walsh's final goal.

Taylor Kreider had six shots and ALYSSA SCHEIDT had three to account for all of the shots taken by the Nittany Lions.

Melissa Millili and Jen Schmidt, who each spent a half in goal for the Bulldogs, combined for six saves and have yet to allow a goal during the 2010 season.

The Berks women will hit the road for two matches this weekend. They begin with a 1:30 p.m. contest at Wells College on Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. match at Keuka College on Sunday.
