Berks soccer falls to Greensboro in overtime

Towson, MD (September 4, 2010) - Greensboro College scored in the 97th minute to edge out the Penn State Berks men's soccer team by a score of 2-1 on the second day of the Goucher tournament on Saturday afternoon.

For the second straight day, the Nittany Lions (0-3) battled back to tie the match at one with a goal in the second half. CASEY CORREA, who assisted on yesterday's tying goal, evened the contest with a score off of a penalty kick at the 63:56 mark.

Jonathan Martin and JONATHAN JABLONKA each had three saves in goal for Berks. Jablonka did not allow a goal in his 45 minutes of play.

Greensboro got its game winner by Joe Peluso's sliding kick that found the back of the net. The scoring started for the Pride (1-1) when Chris Davis knocked a rebound in for a goal 21 minutes, 42 seconds into the contest.

After being outshot 29-4 in the previous match, Berks narrowed it to a 20-9 margin against Greensboro. The Pride also held the advantage in corners by a 7-5 margin.

Chris Beatty and LOGAN LANGSETH each had two shots on goal, but Greensboro keeper Woody Wilder was solid in the net. He finished the day with seven saves.

The men will travel to Wells College for a 3:30 contest on Saturday, September 11.
