Shelton, Detsch lead Berks to win over Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, PA (September 30, 2010) - AMY SHELTON and JERICA DETSCH combined for 31 kills to help lead the Penn State Berks women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Delaware Valley College on Thursday evening.

After dropping the first set 25-25, Berks won the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-23. With the win, the Nittany Lions improve their best start in program history to a 12-3 record. This was the second victory over the Aggies in two weeks.

Shelton had a match-high 16 to go along with her two solo blocks and two assisted blocks, while Detsch pounded out 15 kills and had 11 digs.

The Nittany Lions combined for nine service aces, led by sophomore SUZI SHELTON who had three. GLENDA NGO and RACHEL SWEENEY each recorded two service aces. Ngo also dished out 40 assists and a team-best 14 digs, while Sweeney added 12 kills.

The women will host Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday, October 5 at 7 p.m. in Beaver Community Center.
