READING, PA (September 25, 2010) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
The Nittany Lions record in the conference is now 0-2-1, while Cobleskill moves to 0-1-1.
Senior goalkeeper Jonathan Martin, who held the Fighting Tigers without a goal in the 110 minutes of play, made a huge save in the first half that could have decided the match. As Souleymane Kone raced down the field for a breakaway, Martin met him at edge of the box and made a diving save. Kone then put the rebound 10 yards over the net and missed out on the best scoring opportunity of the day.
Martin finished the contest with five saves, including one in the extra frames.
Logan Langseth created some space with nifty footwork in the first overtime, but his shot was saved by Mack Curran. Langseth had another shot on goal of his saved by Curran in the first half.
The Nittany Lion defense limited Cobleskill's scoring chances throughout the match. In the second half, COLLIN MCCORMICK
came out of nowhere to block an open shot by Joe Giulano to help preserve the shutout.
The men will return to action tomorrow afternoon at home with a conference contest against SUNY IT starting at 3 p.m.
