READING, PA (September 29, 2010) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 non-conference contest with Reading rival Albright College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions cut the Albright lead to 3-1 late in the first half with some fine ball movement. ERIK MERTZ connected a deep pass to MATT KELLY, who then deflected the ball through traffic to Ndayishimiye Abdul. Abdul then sent a roller over to Zach Alesi who led fed a perfect pass for SETH STONER to chip over the keepers head.
Logan Langseth had a first half scoring opportunity, but Albright keeper Billy Howard made the stop.
Jonathan Jablonka and Jonathan Martin combined to make 10 saves for Berks. The team also received a defensive save by CASEY CORREA.
Albright jumped out to an early lead with an unassisted goal by Shawn Murphy, followed by back-to-back scores by Adam Toroniewski. Gibrilla Conde and Chris Bette added second half goals to cap off the scoring.
The men will host Valley Forge Christian on Monday, October 4 at 4 p.m. in a nonconference contest.
