Volleyball bounces back with 3-0 win over Immaculata

IMMACULATA, PA (September 22, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 win at Immaculata University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions used set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 to improve their season record to 8-2 overall. After dropping a tough battle with Kutztown on Monday, Berks worked out the kinks against the Mighty Macs in preperation for conference play this weekend.

Senior JERICA DETSCH had 10 of her 17 attacks land in for a kill, which was a team-high. AMY SHELTON contributed nine kills and a season-high five service aces, SUZI SHELTON chipped in with eight kills .

CHRISTINE KANTONIDES assisted on three blocks, while AMY SHELTON assisted on two as the Lions finished with five team blocks. SUZI SHELTON had a solo block and one assist, while RACHEL SWEENEY also got helped out on one.

GLENDA NGO dished out 24 assists, putting her four away from reaching 300 in only the 10th match of the sesaon. Ngo also had a team-best nine digs, while libero KATIE SOSTAK had eight.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Penn State Abington to play two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests on both Saturday and Sunday.
