MIDDLETOWN, PA (December 8, 2010) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped a hard fought battle on the road to Penn State Harrisburg, 71-68, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) showdown on Wednesday evening.
Freshman Taylor Kreider gave her best effort of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds, both of which are season-high's. Â Kreider also handed out four assists
Senior Steph Binder finished the contest with 13 points, raising her career total to 991. Chanell Jones and Keyaundra Williams each recorded 10 points to round out the Berks' players in double-figures.
With a depleted lineup from injury and foul trouble, Berks' still found themselves within one basket of sending the game to overtime. After a pair of free throws by Brittani Guerre built a three point lead with 2.7 seconds left, Berks watched as Kreider's half court prayer fell short. It was the third loss this season by three points or less.
Penn State Berks took a 29-20 lead into the intermission and led through nearly the entire second half. Â Dorothea Dixon's layup with 20 seconds remaining gave Harrisburg a 69-68 advantage and then Guerre's foul shots built a three point cushion.
Penn State Berks will look to get back on the right track on Saturday with a road NEAC contest with Wilson College at 2 p.m.
