Berks volleyball wins sixth straight

READING, PA (October 8, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team downed Penn State Brandywine, 3-0, to earn its sixth consecutive victory on Friday evening.

A night after going five nerve racking sets, Berks used a 9-3 run to squeak out a 25-19 win in the opening set. They grabbed the next two by scores of 25-16 and 25-14.

Freshman AMY SHELTON racked up 13 kills to go along with her three solo blocks to lead the Nittany Lions. RACHEL SWEENEY also turned in another strong performance with 10 kills and three service aces.

JERICA DETSCH and KATIE SOSTAK tied for the team-lead with nine digs, while GLENDA NGO recorded 39 assists to run her season total up to 521. SUZI SHELTON chipped in with eight kills and Detsch added seven.

The women will travel to Valley Forge Christian College for a 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday, October 12.
